A bloody nose for Kirkby Lonsdale 2

At 3pm on home turf, Garstang Men's Development faced Kirkby Lonsdale 2. The match was dominated by KL2 holding a very high press which took a while for Garstang to deal with but a solid defence soon allowed the game to open up. The young lads ran relentlessly, picking up their opponents and shutting them down. Steve F scored a fantastic goal to put Garstang in the lead! It was great to see the lads running into space which allowed Steve the space to shoot...well done boys - that's team work and it's how you win games.

The opposition got a goal back and the game was in the balance. We soaked up a lot of pressure to use that sporting cliché and our team was galvanized (cliché) by communication and hard work all around. Finlay received a great pass just into the oppositions half which he ran all the way to the D and somehow poked the ball into the goal from an almost horizontal position, great determination, resilience and skill in front of goal! A superb finish from Finlay with Garstang now leading 2-1.

After the goal we ended up defending hard for the remaining minutes, special mention to Dexter who had an unbelievable game at right back. Special performance today buddy, and a well earned MoM saving that strike from their short corner was as good as a goal and all the other grief you gave their attack was fantastic. Take a bow Dexter!

Well done everyone, great game, proud to be your captain today. Thanks to the umpires today, quiet match for them today. When Katie became a medic Midge stepped up, bravo.
