About Us

Welcome to Garstang Hockey Club.

We were formed as Garstang Ladies Hockey Club in 1958 and played as such until 2018. We played in Garstang until late 1994. Very successful in our first decade, a 2nd team was introduced in 1968, a 3rd team in 2008 and a 4th team in 2016. Coinciding with our 60th Anniversary in 2018, we finally returned to Garstang after a 5 year project to build a new astroturf facility at Garstang Community Academy. Officially opened on Saturday 8 September 2018 by Double Olympic medallist, Hannah MacLeod, the move saw us open the Club to boys and men enabling us to become a more inclusive family friendly Club. 2022 saw us introduce our Mens Development squad, providing a platform for young players transitioning to senior leagues and new players to familiarise themselves with league games and all the rules and admin that come with it! 2023 saw our first entry for our Ladies Development team into the North West Hockey League and 2024 will see our previous Mens Development Team form our first Mens 2nd Team as they begin their competitive journey in the North West Hockey League.

Match days for all senior league hockey (age 13+ or 12+ with parental permission for development teams) are Saturdays. We run 5 senior ladies teams and 3 senior mens.
Following a major league restructure of all leagues nationally during the summer of 2021, for 2023-24, all our sides will compete in the following of the North West Area

Ladies 1s - Premier Division
Ladies 2s - Division 2 North (Central)
Ladies 3s - Division 3 North (Central)
Ladies 4s - Division 4 North (Central)
Ladies Development - Division 5 North (Central)
Mens 1s - Division 3 North
Mens 2s - Division 4 North

We have a thriving junior section attracting youngsters to participate in our exciting sport from the age of 5 which supports the future strength of the club and are partnered with Garstang Community Academy with an after school club. We also have a Back2Hockey/New2Hockey section aimed at former or older players who either just want to play socially or cannot commit to regular competitive hockey - running alongside the Juniors, this means parents can play hockey at the same time.

The club recognises its future strength depends on established players being successful on the pitch, combined with investment to produce quality and enthusiasm among its younger members. We want all players to be inspired and supported to reach their full potential and live more healthy and active lives through sport and physical activity. Our club understands the importance of sport in changing lives.
