A handy list to help you prepare for the season ahead

Training is well under way; five weeks in for the seniors, juniors having begun again this week and Back2Hockey starting the week after next. Check your kit is OK and ready for the season head.

Here's a list of items in most peoples kit bag... I don't want to mention Christmas but actually, if you are struggling for ideas this year, then this may just help you out. Anyway, the first two items are a definite MUST for all new members.

  1. Shin pads
  2. Gum shield
  3. Astros
  4. Sticks (grip OK?)
  5. Training wear - leggings, hoodies
  6. Match day playing kit - shirt, skorts (shorts for men), socks
  7. Match day travelling kit - Club jacket, hoody, track pants, leggings
  8. White socks (for match kit clashes)
  9. Base layers (also known as wimps vests but hey, who cares!)
  10. Protective glove(s)
  11. Beanie hat (sometimes worn at training/travelling)
  12. Your Match fee.... every week :-)
  13. A drink

And here's a list of some emergency items you might want to ensure are in your kit bag too

  1. Spare hair bobbles, grips, headbands
  2. Spare pair of red socks (it happens, team mates sometimes forget, help them out)
  3. Tape (emergency repair to stick grip)
  4. Paracetamol
  5. Bin liner (to store clothes/bags when raining). Goalkeepers don't appreciate their bag being used as a wardrobe and having to wait for you before they can put their gear away.

Don't forget, Thursday is the cut off for this months orders from the Club Shop.

Next week, we'll run a handy hints list for match days.
