Fantastic weather for the latest round, our first tournament on this pitch

What a lovely setting

What a great day for hockey, hosting the latest round of U12's in glorious sunshine. The town was not only buzzing with its 2nd Annual Scarecrow Festival but there was also a buzz around the Academy.... and later, it went international as an American touring volleyball team played in the Sports Hall.

It was great to see teams from Leyland & Chorley, Lancaster & Morecambe, Fylde, Pendle Forest and Preston chilling on the grass between games. A lovely atmosphere.... and helped along with a great BBQ supplied by Garstang's Auction Eats and a tuck shop and cake stall manned by junior players and parent helpers. Not a bad tuck shop considering Reb and SJ heard a closing tannoy announcement within 15 minutes of entering the store! The cake stand was impressive too.... Zoe Mather has plenty of competition for this years 'Star Baker' award!

A huge THANK YOU to all volunteers for helping the day run smoothly including Helen for umpiring, holidaying Frank for arranging the BBQ and pitch divider (courtesy of C&C Supplies), to all cake bakers and tuck shop managers (it went down a treat, we almost sold out), Charles for his usual preparedness, Junior Coordinator Reb and Head Coach Dave for leading the boys and girls who both played really well. Also to Jan and Adrian from Fylde for coordinating the entries and running the format.

A great warm up event for our Hockeyfest on the 7th September when we'll throw our doors open to Club members for a pre season social day and potential new members of all ages and abilities for a try out.

On the pitch, our Boys and Girls played well. The boys not quite making the Semis this weekend and the girls won their 3rd & 4th play off. Lots of potential in both teams given their short time together. Emphasis being on playing, having fun and learning together.
